The Incredibles

My daughter Kiera loves The Incredibles. I really like the movie, too. It plays for the kids very well (she loves Violet, Dash and Jack Jack) and it can also be appreciated by anyone who's read a comic book more than once. They take some of the super hero stereotypes and spin them so us adults can appreciate them.

The movie has also become a benchmark for animated (and especially computer animated) movies. Every cartoon that has come to the theaters after this movie has been compared -- usually unfavorably -- to this one.

The reviews for movies like Shark Tale or Madagascar repeatedly mention that the celebrity voices don't always work and the voices like Craig T. Nelson's Mr. Incredible fit perfectly. He is Mr. Incredible.

Which is good news for Craig T. Nelson, who hasn't done a thing worth mentioning since he was Action Jackson's nemesis Peter Dellaplane....

However, after watching The Incredibles so many times, my daughter is beginning to move onto other movies, namely Shrek. Kiera loves pretending to be Princess Fiona and can mimic singing like her at the drop of a hat, minus the exploding bird, of course.

Who knows what Kiera's next favorite movie will be. It could be Over The Hedge, it could be Cars or it could even be Howl's Moving Castle. Only time and daddy's exhausted wallet will tell.

Update
Useless advice from useless men had advice for me today on their blog. It was, of course, useless. You can read about it here.
